History of the College

Introduction :

Rampurhat College(Govt. Spons.), established in 1950, has traversed a long path warding off the challenges of time and put its mark in the history of higher education in the area. It is affiliated to the University of Burdwan . The College has three shifts Morning , Day and Evening. Honours  & General courses are taught in the day shift. The morning shift is only for the Arts general stream and the evening shift is exclusively for the Commerce , both Honours & General. The Post Graduate Course in Bengali on regular basis  has been started from the session 2014-15 and the Post Graduate Courses in English and Sanskrit on regular basis were started from 2015-16 academic year.

Because of its geographical proximity to the famous pilgrimage centre, Tarapith, and for its booming mining industry and brisk business in the locality, Rampurhat is well connected to the capital city of Kolkata, to the North Bengal and even the smaller states of the North East. It is also now connected to the farthest  South of the country . 

The college is situated in a pleasant and peaceful environment having an area of more than eleven acres . Many students travel long way from their home to reach the campus. The nearest railway station is Rampurhat and it is only ten minutes walk from the college. The N.H-60, bifurcating the town, is about one k.m. away from the college campus. Regular and frequent bus services are available facilitating the communication for the students and guardians alike.

Rampurhat College being one of the oldest colleges in the district, it has been imparting knowledge in the society. Teachers encourage the students to attend their classes regularly and take lessons from them seriously. This mentor-mentee relationship instills in the students a kind of confidence which helps them to succeed in their life.
